To install the Root Cause Analysis plugin, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in as a user with the JIRA Administrators global permission.
  2. Click on the JIRA Administration cog  and select the Add-ons menu item
  3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page and locate Root Cause Analysis via the Search the Marketplace field.
  4. Click Free trial to evaluate the plugin or Buy now to purchase a license for Root Cause Analysis.
    You are then prompted to log into MyAtlassian. 
  5. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
    Once successfully logged in the Root Cause Analysis plugin begins to download.
  6. Click Apply license.


Post install Configuration:

  1. Log in as a user with the JIRA Administrators global permission.
  2. Click on the JIRA Administration cog and Image Added and select the Add-ons menu item.
  3. Under the Feedback & Analysis left hand menu section, click on Root Cause Analysis. You are now in the Configuration Panel.
  4. From within the Configuration Panel, determine whether to limit viewability for users without edit issue permission.
  5. From within the Configuration Panel, configure which Defect Factors you would like to attribute to Root Cause issues by clicking on the Defect Factors button (by default they are all active).
  6. From within the Configuration Panel, configure which JIRA Issue Types you would like to attribute Root Cause issues from by clicking on the Issue Types button (by default they are all active).
  7. From within the Configuration Panel, configure which JIRA Projects you would like to attribute Root Cause issues from by clicking on the Projects button (by default they are all active).
  8. From within the Configuration Panel, install the basic issue navigator searchers by clicking on the Install Searchers button.
  9. Configure Your Workflows to work with the Root Cause Analysis plugin.
  10. Unless you are installing the plugin on a fresh JIRA instance, from within the Configuration Panel, run the Back-populate Resolver/Closer Data based on current workflows process by clicking on the Run Process button. 
    Note: Depending on the number of existing JIRA projects/issues, this process can take a few minutes. 
  11. Navigate to the JIRA Administartion cog  and select the System menu item. Under the Advanced left hand menu section, select Indexing. Click on the Re-Index button.

The Root Cause Analysis plugin is now completely setup and ready for use!
