Although the Root Cause Analysis plugin comes bundles with a whole slew of different JQL Functions, using the advanced search functionality within JIRA is admittedly not for everyone.

With this in mind, we have provided the ability to allow for searching in the Basic Issue Navigator for the following fields:

  • Root Cause Issue
  • Root Cause Attributer
  • Root Cause Resolver
  • Root Cause Closer
  • Root Cause Attributer Summary
  • Root Cause Resolver Summary
  • Root Cause Closer Summary
  • Root Cause Determination

To enable these basic issue navigator field searchers:

  1. Log in as a user with the JIRA Administrators global permission.
  2. Click on the JIRA Administration cog  and select the Add-ons menu item
  3. Click on the Root Cause Analysis link in the left hand navigation menu.
  4. Click on the Install Searchers button.
  5. When the  icon appears the basic issue navigator fields have been successfully installed.
  6. Click on the JIRA Administration cog  and select System.
  7. Click on the Indexing link from the left hand navigation menu.
  8. Click on the Re-Index button to re-index the issues to account for the new basic issue navigator fields.

If you do not re-index, the Root Cause Analysis basic Issue Navigator fields will return empty search results.

  9. Click on the top toolbar Issues menu drop-down and select Search for issues.

  10. Click on the More drop-down and you will now see the Root Cause Analysis fields available for searching.
