Key Terminology

Some of the terminology used within the Root Cause Analysis plugin may not be familiar. We've attempted to come up with names and descriptions that will best describe the use of the available fields in all scenarios.

See the list below for some definitions of the main terms used within the plugin.

Term	Description
Root Cause Issue	This is the JIRA issue that was identified by the Attributer to be the root cause of the Attributer Issue
Attributer Issue	This is the JIRA issue where the Root Cause Analysis is performed from. The Root Cause Issue will be set within this JIRA issue by the Attributer.
Attributer	The JIRA user who identifies a particular JIRA issue as being the Root Cause Issue of the issue they are performing the Root Cause Analysis on.
Resolver	The last JIRA user who transitioned the Root Cause Issue from a "changes may be required" workflow state to a "changes needs testing" workflow state.
Closer	The last JIRA user who transitioned the Root Cause Issue from a "changes need testing" workflow state to a "task complete" workflow state.
Defect Introduction Factor	This is the reason why a particular bug occurred.
Defect Detection Factor	This is the reason how a particular bug was detected.
